Happy to have discovered the data-centric manifesto which perfectly expresses my observations in CRM projects. The way enterprise data are structured and organised is first and foremost about semantics and making sure that people share a common understanding of the meaning of the data they handle. As a musician, enterprise architecture makes me think of an orchestra: imagine every instrument had its own musical grammar. Playing together would be difficult and sound accordingly... And yet this is so often the case for apps and humans within organisations. In order to play together, they require middleware and APIs. And if we started from establishing common semantic ground about things, groups of things and relations? No doubt this will benefit interoperability. #2021resolution
